Filippo Brunelleschi was the son of a lawyer and was born in Florence, Italy in 1377. His career began as an apprentice for a goldsmith in Florence. Six years later, after he passed his examination he became a guild master goldsmith.
Later in life Brunelleschi discovered his passion for mathmatics and architecture, which then lead him to start renovating towns and buildings. Then the esteemed architect became friends with a distinguished sculptor named Donetello.
Filippo continued his studies in rome (for ten years), not in his original trade, goldsmithing, but in architecture. Working with clocks, gears, wheels, and weights, Brunelleschi developed his exceptional skills that would that would help him create his greatest pieces of architecture in the Renaissance history.

-The church of San Spirto
